Planning Ahead It is very common for students to use every possible moment to finish their Thesis or Dissertation. With that in mind, make sure that you allow sufficient time for the printing process. It is vitally important to plan ahead.

Printing & BindingWhilst you are able to print the document yourself, it can often be both cheaper and quicker for us to do it for you. Additionally our equipment is far superior and can produce far better quality reproduction than a standard home printer. We can print the document while you wait and as soon as you have approved it, we can start the binding process.

Hard-Back Casement Bindings The traditional binding process is the preferred style chosen by practically all Colleges and Universities throughout the country.   We have provided this service to every institution throughout the country as well as many in the UK.

Soft Bindings Sometimes used as an alternative and sometimes in addition to Hard-Back bindings. This process is a much faster process and comes in several different forms, namely: Ring & Comb Bind, Heat & Soft Bind, Premium Bind and Wiro Bindings. We can advise you on the best solution for your college or University.

Project Layout It is extremely important to read the information given to you by your college or University on the required layout for the print and binding of your work. If you are in any doubt whatsoever, please contact our offices and we will assist in any way possible.

MarginsThe binding process involves processes that require the pages to be trimmed, drilled and stitched. It is therefore important to make sure that you adhere to the minimum margin requirements for Hard-Back casement bindings. Left Hand edge - 40mm minimum. Top, Right and Bottom edge - 25mm minimum. You must also ensure that any folded page is kept in at least 30mm from the right hand edge.

Book Cover There are several different cover colours to choose from and will usually be specified by your College or University. The common colours are Black, Navy Blue, Green and Wine. Other Colours are available but we recommend you speak with your tutor first and allow additional time to select the correct colour.

Is Gold Foil my only option?The most popular option is gold foil but Silver is also an option. Make sure to check with your College or University as to what is acceptable.

What type of paper should I use? This a particular requirement often overlooked by the student. Almost all institutions throughout the Ireland and the UK require a higher standard of paper than standard copy paper available at stationers. The minimum is generally 90gsm but can be up to 120gsm. Some have been known to lose points on presentation when using common 80gsm.

How many pages can be bound?Whilst it can be determined by the paper-weight, it would be advisable not to exceed 450 pages before the need to split the document into multiple volumes. If your document is larger, you will need to allow additional time and book ahead for your binding. Contact us for further information.
